In 1845, Sir John Franklin set off for the Northwest Passage, with two ships and 128 men. They never came home and the fate of the expedition has become one of the greatest mysteries in the history of exploration. Now that The Erebus has been found, historians and archaeologists can start to piece together what happened during the harrowing final days of the doomed expedition. Through CGI, interviews and re-enactments, and exclusive footage of the ship’s discovery we bring this tragic story to life. Co-production with Lion Television and 90th Parallel Productions. Directed by Ben Finney. Produced by Andrew Gregg. Edited by Geoff Matheson. For CBC’s Nature of Things, PBS NOVA (US) and Channel 4 (UK) Check out CBC’s Nature of Things - Thursday April 9/15 - 8pm.
